An Old Dollhouse Is Finally Getting The Face Lift It Needs!!

An Old Dollhouse Finally Getting The Face Lift it needs!!

I have had this Allison Junior Dollhouse forever!! My dad gave it to me when I was preteen/early teenager.  We built it but not much came of it after that...  but I always kept it, it has been to 2 apartments and our new house. Then when my daughter was born I used it as a bookshelf in her bedroom.

Within the last year I have suddenly got back into building dollhouses.  I bought a cheap house off of ebay and started from the ground up... its about 90% complete... but I have been learning on it.. So there are some things I am just not happy with about it....  Things that only another dollhouse collector would understand.

So, I was staring at my old Allison Jr Dollhouse in my daughters' bedroom and thought "how can such a beautiful dollhouse be left unfinished?".  So here my journey begins.  I want to put the best effort into this house and make it a house that doesnt only amaze family and friends, but a house that amazes me!

Here is a pic of it in its current state.. I repainted the exterior but I am no where near done with it yet...
I am very happy with the main color of the house. Obviously, i LOVE purple :)  since my husband wont let me paint the exterior of our house purple Im going to make this house Purple. hehehe

I am at a loss as what to do with the shutters right now, but time will tell. I cant rush it.  I rushed with my last house and Im not truly happy with the results.  Once the exterior of this house is complete I am going to place it in our large bay window in our dining room.

Anyway, here is a pic of my Allison Junior... if you notice, I am missing the "attic" on the very top, the pieces have been lost or thrown away through the years... I am hoping to get new pieces from Real good toys, but we'll see, Im not ready for that step yet anyway.

I also ripped out the old door that I had glued into place years ago and wanted to replace it with another door I had from my previous house...  Well.. the door frame I removed was taller then the one I have.. sooo either I have to fill in that space or buy a larger door. I look at many door sizes and they were all the same size, so I might have no choice but to fill in the space.. again, i am undecided right now.. But will make up my mind very soon!
